OpenCms 22

OpenCms 22 moves to Jakarta EE and supports modern servlet containers such as Tomcat 10 / 11 and Jetty 12. A new database storage layer deduplicates binary and image content and can optionally move binary files into an S3-compatible object storage. The database footprint shrinks considerably: deduplication alone reduces the database size by about 40%, and moving binaries to S3 storage cuts it by 80% or more. For content managers, OpenCms 22 shows the validity period of time-controlled elements directly in the page editor and uses real placeholder texts in the content editor. This version also improves the selection of global and local categories, finds partial words in galleries and allows redirects in the navigation to open a new window.
