Layout area

Creates areas into which layout rows can be placed.

It basically determines how the main content of a page is displayed and if there is a side column, for example.

Generally, only one layout area is used on a page, but it is also possible to place several layout areas one below the other.

The available layout areas are predefined and cannot be changed.

Please also refer to the instructions for pages with parallax backgrounds (de) using the layout area.

For the “left column” and “right column” variants, the width of the side column can be varied by setting the mercury.side.wide property. By default, the side column is 3 units wide and the main content is 9 units wide (i.e., 3-9 or 9-3). By setting the mercury.side.wide property to true - e.g. on the start folder of the (sub)site - the ratio is changed to 4-8 or 8-4.

Area - Column left / Main content right

Most pages in this documentation use the layout area Column left / Main content right.

The left column often contains a navigation element.

Area - Main content left / Column right

In the layout area Main content left / Column right, there is often a navigation element in the right column.

The Area - One row only creates one container for the main content.

It is possible to set a background color using an element setting for this area.

The Area - Row in full screen width uses the entire available width of the screen window. This can be used, for example, to place an image or slider very prominently on a homepage.
