Eye-Able Assist - Accessibility Assistant

This assistant from Eye-Able enables barrier-free display of websites. The assistant also includes functions for reading websites aloud.

A license must be purchased in order to use Eye-Able. Ask your system administrator if and how you can obtain such a license.

A license is valid either for a single website, such as www.alkacon.com, or for multiple websites, such as *.alkacon.com.

Set the license for a website using the file property eye-able.license. This should be done in the website's start folder.

Eye-Able is only available if a license has been stored in the eye-able.license property. Otherwise, Eye-Able is not active.

When a license for Eye-Able has been configured, an “Accessibility” icon for activating the assistant is automatically displayed in the navigation bar at the top right. The Eye-Able assistant can be activated using this button.

Please note that Eye-Able is always deactivated in the OpenCms page editor. To test it, switch to preview mode or online view.

The Eye-Able switch can also be added anywhere on the page using a link sequence:

To do this, enter the following in the link sequence:

Text: Accessible||icon:universal-access||class:eyeAble_customToolOpenerClass
Link: javascript:void(0)

Instead of ‘Accessible’, you can also use any other text at the beginning.

It is possible to hide the icon in the navigation bar at the top right. To do this, set the file property eye-able.option to the value hide-main-nav. If this is done on a folder, the switch will be hidden for all pages in that folder.

If an Eye-Able license has been configured but there is NO switch on the page for it – i.e., neither in the navigation bar nor in a link sequence – a switch will automatically be displayed as an overlay on the right edge of the screen.

Further information on the capabilities and functionality of Eye-Able Assist can be found on the provider's website.
