Links to function detail pages

Function detail pages created in the sitemap configuration can be accessed in the form editor using the configured name. This is particularly helpful when different sites or subsites share content with links.

Here is a possible use case to illustrate this: Imagine you have a large website with several subsites. To ensure a consistent appearance, all subsites share a footer area in which the same model group is always used. This footer area contains links to an imprint and a privacy policy. For legal reasons, however, certain subsites must have their own pages with an imprint or privacy policy. This means that the footer area actually looks identical, but the link should point to a different page.

By having the links in the footer area point to function detail pages, you can use the same model group in all subsites. The links are then generated to the “correct” page depending on the current subsite.

To use a function detail page as a link target in a site or subsite, you must first configure it. To do this, you need to edit the sitemap configuration. Follow these steps:

  • Switch to the sitemap editor by clicking on the Sitemap icon in the Quick launch menu (rocket) in the toolbar. The sitemap editor opens.
  • Select the Advanced > Sitemap configuration option from the menu (3 bars) in the toolbar. The form editor opens with the sitemap configuration.
  • Click on the Detail pages tab. The current configuration of the detail pages is displayed.
  • Click on the + symbol on the right to create a new detail page configuration.
  • You will see two input fields: Type and Page.
  • Enter the name of your function detail page in the Type input field. This must begin with function@. For the imprint, for example, function@Imprint is used.
  • Now select the page to be used as the link target in the Page input field.
  • Save and close the editor.

You can now link to the function detail page you have created by specifying the following target in a link field in the form editor: opencms://function@{assigned name}, e.g., opencms://function@Imprint

Important: Pay attention to upper and lower case letters. You must specify the link exactly as it is stored in the sitemap configuration.

Note: This function is NOT available for links created using the WYSIWYG editor. The link MUST be entered in the form editor using a separate input field. The most commonly used content elements, such as content section, article or link sequence, support this function. However, there may be content for which this function is not available, even if a separate link input field is available.

The following links on function detail pages are supported in most Mercury Template templates:
