A demo of the visual possibilities of the “Cöln” layout.
The “Cöln” layout is a more advanced version of the newsletter layout. The previous, older layout is now referred to as the “Original” layout.
It is possible to convert existing newsletters in the “Original” layout to the “Cöln"layout. Mailings that have already been sent remain in the archive with the old layout. New mailings, on the other hand, are sent with the “Cöln” layout.
To edit the header and footer in the “Cöln” newsletter, proceed as follows:
- Open the newsletter in the editor.
- Click on “Show app” in the top right-hand corner.
- At the top left of the navigation bar, you will see [Launchpad > Newsletter > (name of your newsletter)]. Click on “Newsletter” here.
- An overview of all configured newsletters will be displayed. Find your newsletter and open the context menu by clicking on the icon on the left for your newsletter.
Select “Edit head/foot” from the context menu.
You can now edit the header and footer of the newsletter. When you are finished, exit the editor using the “Back” button on your browser.
Please note that for legal reasons, the footer must contain a link to unsubscribe. The easiest way to do this is to drag the dynamic function “Special functions for newsletter mailing [Cöln]” into the footer and select “Link to unsubscribe from the newsletter” as the “Function type” in the element settings.
Existing newsletter configurations can be converted from the “Original” layout to the “Cöln” layout. As a result of the conversion
- all existing mailings will continue to be displayed in the “Original” layout
- all new mailings will be created in the “Cöln” layout
To change the layout
- Open the newsletter configuration for editing.
- Go to the “Layout” tab.
- Add a new entry called “Cöln Layout” under “Layout configurations.”
- Move the new entry to the top (and the old one to the bottom).
- Save (and publish) your changes.
Editing the header and footer areas requires the configuration of a second detail page for newsletter configurations. If, after switching to the “Cöln” layout, the “Edit header/footer area” context menu is inactive in the newsletter configuration, you have to do this configuration manually:
- Open the sitemap editor in the sitemap where the newsletter configuration is located
- In the context menu (top right), select the option “Advanced” > “Sitemap configuration”
- When the configuration is open for editing, switch to the “Detail pages” tab
- Find the detail page for the type “m-newsletter-config”
- Add an additional detail page directly below it
- Enter “m-newsletter-config” as the type
- Enter the same value as the detail page for the type “m-newsletter” as the page
- Save and publish your changes
