Newsletter configuration

The newsletter configuration is the core element for configuring a newsletter and also generates the registration form.

It also specifies where the subscribers are stored and who is authorized to send newsletter mailings.

The basic layout of the mailings sent is also defined in the configuration.

This documentation contains instructions for the newsletter - from basic configuration and administration to sending mailings. In these instructions, you will learn the details you need to set up and use the newsletter.

The registration page is automatically generated from the newsletter configuration. The link to this page can be created in various ways:

The newsletter configuration can generate a text with a link to the subscription form directly. However, in this case, there are only a few design options available.

The following link to the newsletter registration is generated by a content section. This allows numerous design options.

Would you like to receive the newsletter by email? Then register now.

The text displayed when registering for the newsletter automatically includes a link to the page with the privacy policy. This must be configured (de) as the “Datenschutz” function detail page.

When subscribing to the newsletter, the external captcha is automatically displayed if it has been configured for the website.

The basic setup of an external captcha is described in the corresponding instructions. Once an external captcha has been set up for a website, it will automatically be displayed for newsletter registration as well.

If you do not want to use the external captcha on a specific (sub)site, do the following:

  • Go to OpenCms Explorer.
  • Find the folder where the page is located.
  • Open the Properties dialog for this folder.
    • Enter the value none for the captcha.sitekey property.
    • Enter the value none for the captcha.apikey property.

In this case, the external captcha will be deactivated for all pages in the selected folder and all its subfolders. This applies to both forms and newsletter registrations.
