Combined content filters for the dynamic list

The contents of a dynamic list can be filtered interactively by the user. By default, a content filter is active.

With combined content filters, the restrictions of several filters are linked, allowing multi-level restrictions.

In the left side column, you can find several content filters for the list displayed below. The filters are combined when you apply restrictions using different filters. Only when you perform a new full-text search all filters are reset.

The number of hits for each filter is dynamically adjusted depending on the user's selection.

To add combinable filters to an existing list on a page, proceed as follows:

  1. Drag and drop the list onto the page a second time.
  2. Place the list in any container, e.g., in the side column.
  3. Open the element settings for the second list.
  4. Select the “Dynamic list: Content filters” formatter.
  5. In the element settings, specify exactly one option that the filter should display and select “Hide” for all others.
  6. Repeat steps 1 to 5 for each additional filter option.

Set the “Reset buttons” element setting to “Show” to display buttons for removing selected filters. Once a filter is selected, the corresponding reset button appears automatically. This makes it easier to use, especially when combining content filters: it clearly shows which filters are currently active and how they can be removed.

The configuration of the “Dynamic List: Content filters” element is already documented separately. All of the options described there also exist when combining content filters.

However, you should note that when combining filters, you really do have to drag each filter onto the page separately.
