In order to be able to use these settings optimally, advanced technical understanding and knowledge of HTML and CSS are helpful.
Categories make it possible to display content of the same type on different detail pages. Content that is assigned to a category can thus be displayed on a special detail page for that category. This allows, for example, the URLs and navigation paths of the detail pages to be optimized, or the detail pages to display additional elements depending on the respective category.
This option requires settings in the sitemap that can only be made by administrators with the appropriate permissions.
Two media contents are teased below. The first media content is assigned to the category media/audio/, and the second content to the category media/video/.
Clicking on the “Go to details page” buttons opens a different details page in each case, so that the URLs contain a reference to the media type /audio/ or /video/. In addition, texts with the media type are displayed on the details page.
Note: The configuration described here requires settings in the sitemap that can only be made by administrators with the appropriate permissions.
Ensure that the desired categories for controlling the detail pages are available and that the content is assigned to the appropriate categories.
Create multiple detail pages for a content type at once:
- To do this, go to the Sitemap Editor and click on the magic wand icon in the top left corner.
- A dialog box for creating new pages will open. Switch to the Detail Pages tab and drag a detail page of the desired type into the sitemap tree.
- Repeat step two until there is an individual detail page for each desired type.
Link the detail pages to the categories:
- To do this, open the sitemap configuration by selecting Advanced > Sitemap Configuration from the burger menu in the upper right corner of the sitemap editor.
- The form editor for sitemap configuration opens. Switch to the Detail Pages tab and search the list for the detail pages you created in the last step.
- Add the category to a detail page configuration by adding the string “|category:” followed by the category path in the Type field.
