Import celebrants and intentions from ChurchDesk

Celebrants and intentions can be imported from ChurchDesk into OpenCms. The import can be controlled separately for both fields. Subsequently, it can be determined which information appears on the website for lists and detail views.

In addition to the existing information, ChurchDesk can also provide involved persons and intentions for a church service. This requires that these details are maintained in ChurchDesk and released for export.

During import, OpenCms adopts the names of the persons provided by ChurchDesk as the celebrants of the church service. Multiple intentions are also imported and saved together for the church service.

For each connected tenant, two settings are available in the configuration file:

  • "Import celebrants" adopts the persons provided by ChurchDesk via the service plans.
  • "Import intentions" adopts the intentions stored for the services.

Both import options must be explicitly activated. If an option is not activated, the corresponding additional information from ChurchDesk will not be adopted into OpenCms.

For the data to be available, they must be both exported from ChurchDesk and released during the OpenCms import.

Imported data is not necessarily displayed in every section of the website. Editors can control the output via the element settings of the respective service list or detail view.

In service lists, the display of celebrants is determined by the setting „Show performers“. The following selection options are available:

  • Do not show: hides the names completely.
  • Show without icon: shows only the names.
  • Show with icon: additionally shows a person icon before the names.

In addition to the predefined selection options, a custom label can also be entered. For example, „Celebrant:“ or „Service leader:“ can be prefixed to the names.

In the detail view, the setting „Show performers“ is also available. Here, you can choose between „Do not show“ and „Show“.

This setting is made separately from the service list. Therefore, celebrants can, for example, be hidden in a compact list but displayed on the service detail page.

The output of intentions is controlled via the setting "Show intentions". It is available both for service lists and the detail view.

The following selection options can be used:

  • Do not show: completely hides the intentions.
  • Show without label: shows only the actual intention texts.
  • Show with default label: adds the label "Prayer for:" before the intentions.

Alternatively, a custom label can be entered. If multiple intentions are present, they are listed sequentially and visually separated from each other.
