Organization charts require configuration. This is a special file that must be specified in the element settings. It is made available by OpenCms Administration and normally only needs to be created or adjusted once per OpenCms installation. Various basic settings relevant to the creation of the organization chart graphic are made in the configuration file, such as the logo used and the colors.
Furthermore, the start organization for displaying the organizational chart must be specified in the element settings. This does not necessarily have to be the organization at the top of the hierarchy.
The Links element setting determines where the links in the department overview (text display) point to. Here, you can either link to the detail page of the clicked person/organization or to the current page. If Links: Point to the current page is configured, clicking on an organization or person will reload the current page and display specific predefined information about the clicked organization or person in the text display. If Links: Point to the detail page is configured, the detail page of the organization or person will be called up. On the detail page, the organizational chart can be inserted as detailed content below the organization or person in the attachment container. If this is the case, the selected organization is automatically displayed as the start organization. The setting Links: Automatic means that the organizational charts on detail pages in the attachment container automatically link to the detail page, while organizational charts on “normal” pages link to the current page.
The Element Display setting determines whether only the (department) overview, only the organizational chart, or both are displayed.
Finally, the element setting Displayed Levels determines how many levels below the current start organization are to be displayed in the hierarchy of the organizational chart. For space reasons, a maximum of 2 levels below the start organization (i.e., a total of 3 levels) can be displayed.
